At the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo there are several committees and groups that involve the voluntary work of researchers and support staff in different areas.

Biosafety Commission

Mission:

The mission of the Biosafety Commission —together with the members of the Department of Occupational Health— is to propose and to advise —both to scientists and to the Institute’s administrators— on the safety conditions of lab activities. The commission is dedicated both to issues related to biosecurity and to the policies of hazardous waste management.

Mission:

This commission is responsible for organizing the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo’s Seminar Series. It includes a weekly talk open to the public, in which a speaker presents a topic linked to a research or related to science in general. The speaker can be a member of the institute or an external guest, both nationally and internationally.

    Mission:

    This commission collaborates with the organization and coordination of the monthly guided tours of groups of school and high schools students. It is also an important collaborator in the Open Doors Day, an annual event in which the institute receives people who want to know about our work.

    Gender Commission

      Mission:

      Created in 2017, the group contributes to the discussion and reflection on comprehensive and inclusive policies regarding gender issues within the institute. It also aims to inspire the construction of a gender look that recognizes the different situations for women and men in general and with special emphasis on science.

      The commission promotes the awareness on gender issues through the organization of seminars and training workshops; and the incorporation of the gender perspective in human resources decisions, collaborating with the implementation of the Quality Model with Gender Equality of INMUJERES.

      Mission:

      The Shared Equipment Commission is in charge of the use and operation of the equipment that is used by all the laboratories and units of the institute. Breaks, malfunctions, improvements in use control are part of its tasks. Periodically, the Commission also organizes training sessions for scientists and support staff for new and existing equipment.

      Park and Recreation Commission

      Mission:

      The objective of this commission is to collaborate to generate a more pleasant and enjoyable environment surrounding the Institute. To do this, it proposes parks improvements, based on donations and with the voluntary participation of all institute staff. It has organized tree planting and the installation of cement benches with tables, among others activities.
