Call 002-17 – Institut Pasteur de Montevideo
The Institut Pasteur de Montevideo seeks to incorporate a PhD student with emphasis on bioinformatics to its team. The post is offered to work on the project “Center of Metagenomics IP Montevideo/LATU”, with a compensation equivalent to a Research Assistant level 4, for 2 years.
Activities will be held at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo. The candidate must be graduated from a master’s degree, ideally on Bioinformatics or Computer/Engineering Sciences. Candidates graduated from other master programs such as biology will be considered if they present credits of previous knowledge in programming and Linux. Previous knowledge in Microbiology will also be valued (not exclusive).
The student will develop his/her thesis in the development, standardization and application of bioinformatic tools aimed at analysing massive sequencing data (profiling of 16/18S, shotgun metagenomics and comparative taxon-genomics ), produced in the context of projects implemented in the Center.
The candidate must be proactive and show enthusiasm for joining a group of interdisciplinary work and learn new technical approaches.
