Call 003-17 – Institut Pasteur de Montevideo
The Institut Pasteur de Montevideo seeks to incorporate a PhD student with emphasis on biology/bioinformatics to its team. The post is offered to work on the project “Center of Metagenomics IP Montevideo/LATU”, with a compensation equivalent to a Research Assistant level 4, for 2 years.
Activities will be held at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo and LATU (Laboratorio Tecnológico del Uruguay). Schedule and days of work in both places will be agreed with the candidate. The candidate must have a master’s degree in the subareas of genetics, microbiology, molecular biology or bioinformatics. Knowledge in the use of software commonly used in bioinformatics will be valued. The thesis of the student will be framed in the microbiological and genomic analysis of bacteria of medical or biotechnological interest identified within the framework of the projects implemented in the Center. The student must perform tasks such as microbiological isolation, molecular characterization using PCR techniques and bioinformatic analysis of massive sequencing data.
The candidate must be proactive and show enthusiasm for joining a group of interdisciplinary work and learn new technical approaches.
