The Institut Pasteur of Montevideo calls for applications for the “Dr. Paulina Luisi” scholarship for young women researchers.
Since 2017, the institute has received an annual grant that aims to support women researchers in addressing the main challenges faced by women scientists in their professional development arising from gender inequalities.
The amount of the scholarship is up to 5,000 USD to facilitate the completion of postgraduate training. In the selection of grantees, the following activities will be prioritised for funding:
- internship or course in the framework of their postgraduate studies,
- participation in an international congress and/or
- as a salary supplement to allow greater dedication to the postgraduate project (in the event that the researcher carries out another remunerated activity).
In a duly justified way, the grant may be used to finance an extra or complementary experiment to improve the results of the thesis.
Persons who meet the following requirements shall be eligible:
- postgraduate student (master’s or doctorate)
- who is currently working in a Laboratory/Unit of IP Montevideo in the framework of his/her academic postgraduate studies.
Up to two scholarship holders will be selected, in which case the amount will be divided according to the decision of the evaluation committee. As a condition, the Grant must be implemented within one year of its award.
We invite interested persons to apply through this link, and in .pdf format by submitting a document that includes:
a) brief description of the master’s or doctoral project (1000 words maximum),
(b) the purpose and amount requested,
c) implementation plan of the funds requested, explaining the direct impact that the activities to be financed will have on their postgraduate project.
d) Everyday life situations that should be considered for the evaluation of their performance (personal or family illness, disabilities or disabled dependants, single parent households, divorce, carers, etc.).
A letter of endorsement from the head of the Laboratory/Unit describing how the fellowship would benefit the candidate’s career and the context of her financial situation would be an asset, but is not exclusive.
