Molecular Diagnostic

In the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory we are dedicated to the application of molecular techniques for the analysis of human samples. RT-PCR is used for the determination of viruses, while in the case of bacteria the technique used is mass spectrometry.

To carry out the work, in the laboratory we use techniques developed entirely at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo (in the case of SARS-CoV2), while with the diagnosis of respiratory virus panels, development has been combined with fine-tuning of techniques and methodologies that were already used.
