The Molecular Biology Unit and the Host-Pathogen Interactions Laboratory of the Institut Pasteur of Montevideo call for students to carry out their degree thesis with an hourly load to be agreed.
Training accomplished
We are looking for advanced undergraduate students in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry (Faculty of Sciences), as well as in Chemical Sciences or Clinical Biochemistry (Faculty of Chemistry), interested in doing an end-of-course internship in the area of Molecular Biology and Redox Biochemistry.
Experience
No experience is required as this is a training course.
Responsibilities
The dissertation will be carried out in the framework of the project “Functional studies of Trypanosoma cruzi peroxiredoxins“. The selected person will develop experimental activity that will include various molecular and cellular biology techniques, as well as redox biology, including: production and purification of recombinant proteins, creation of protein mutants, PCR, enzymatic assays, protein characterisation techniques (gel filtration, circular dichroism), SDS-PAGE, western blot, among others.
Duration
The position is unpaid and will last for 6 months (with the possibility of joining the lab as a graduate student depending on performance and interest).
