Call 18-23: institutional postdocs – IP Montevideo

The Institut Pasteur de Montevideo seeks to incorporate two postdocs into its scientific staff, through an open call, to develop research lines framed in the current institutional scientific priorities (no prior link with the institute is necessary).

Training accomplished

Doctoral degree obtained between 2018 and 31 March 2024. Although this is the profile sought, applications that do not strictly comply with these requirements will be accepted with a duly justification. In case of maternity, one more year of seniority of the PhD degree (2017) will be accepted for the birth of a child after the PhD, and up to 2 more years (2016) in case you have had more than one child after the PhD.

Duration

The position will have a duration of 2 years, possibly renewable for a single time, for a period of up to 18 months. In case of maternity during the hiring period, the terms will be extended for 9 months.

Reference salary

As of July 2023 the nominal salary for the postdoc position at IP Montevideo is $ 95,759 Uruguayan pesos.

Evaluation

The projects will be evaluated by an advisory committee made up of researchers from IP Montevideo, who will be appointed in an attempt to minimise conflict of interest. The project must be written in such a way that it can be understood by researchers who do not necessarily have experience in that line of research, as it may not be possible to form an advisory committee with experts from all the lines of research proposed in the projects.

Communication of the result

It is estimated that the results will be published by 31 December 2023, however, this will depend on the number of applicants and the characteristics of the applications.

Assumption of duties

In 2024, to be agreed between the management, the group leader and the successful candidates. In the case of a successful applicant who has not defended his/her doctorate at the time of the result, he/she will have until 31 March 2024 to defend his/her thesis. Otherwise, he/she will not be able to take up the position and it will be awarded to the next person on the priority list.
