Gustavo Menezes graduated in Dentistry at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 2003. He completed his PhD in Physiology and Pharmacology at the same university in 2008, studying the effect of cyclooxygenase inhibitors on leukocyte recruitment. Between 2008 and 2009, he did a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Calgary, Canada.
He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He has published more than 125 scientific articles, many of them using intravital microscopy, a technique he is working to disseminate in Latin America. One of his main biological research interests is the dynamics of cells of haematopoietic origin in the liver.
He has received numerous distinctions, including being elected member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
