The Molecular and Human Genetics Laboratory of the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo seeks to incorporate a postgraduate student (preferably doctorate) with a workload of 30 hours per week.
Training accomplished
We orient the search to people who have graduated from Biochemistry, Biology, Human Biology or Biotechnology degrees who wish to start a postgraduate degree and who are interested in working on a project in the area of biomedicine using the zebrafish animal model.
Experience
Experience in molecular biology, fluorescence microscopy, zebrafish model and gene expression analysis is considered opportune but NOT exclusive.
Responsibilities
The work is part of the project funded by FCE-ANII “Mechanobiology in the pathogenesis of kidney disease: Regulation of the ciliogenesis process during the development of kidney cysts” under the direction of Magdalena Cárdenas, PhD, and the co-direction of José Badano, PhD. The project seeks to understand the signaling pathways and cellular processes that are activated during the development of renal cysts and the role that cilia play in this process. It involves the use of the zebrafish animal model, biochemical analysis of signaling pathway activity, use of molecular biology techniques for vector construction and generation of zebrafish transgenic lines, and gene expression analysis.
Remuneration
The selected person will have support to complete the postgraduate course through an ANII postgraduate scholarship associated with the project.
Duration
The position is highly dedicated and will last for a minimum of 2 (master’s) or 3 (doctorate) years.
